With a 26% share of notebooks priced above $1,000 shipped in 2025 and Mac volumes well above their pre-pandemic level, Apple’s position in the notebook market has strengthened since the launch of its custom silicon. Mac shipments grew 16.7% in 2025 versus 9.0% for the broader PC market. This week’s announcements span Apple’s entire Mac notebook portfolio—a $599 MacBook Neo entering the sub-$600 segment for the first time, a MacBook Air with doubled storage at the same $1,099 price, and a MacBook Pro refresh centered on Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The Neo is the most disruptive of the three, entering a segment accounting for over 40% of notebook volume where Apple holds a negligible share.
